Taking God’s Job
It's not about what we think we "can" or "should" be in control of, but what God has uniquely designed us to do through Him.
All too often we attempt to play God in the lives of others. Playing God is an exhausting role. I know, l've tried it and failed miserably.
And as ridiculous as it may sound, have you ever tried to tell God what to do? Sadly, l've tried this approach with God also, and you might not be surprised when I tell you, that doesn't work either.
We may not readily own up to trying to play God, but when we act before we seek God's wisdom, we in essence take on the role that was meant for God alone. That would explain how, before too long, we become burdened and weighed down, feeling the weight of the world on our shoulders! We're trying to control everything and everyone, and it's exhausting.
It is simply not our business to do so. Yet something amazing happens when we accept God's call to release our grip of control and surrender our anxiety to Him: transformation. This process ignites a metamorphosis of sorts-we are radically changed when we go from a me-controlled heart to a God-controlled heart.
God knows all things. He is steady, secure, and safe. What a gift that we can trust Him with all things and have faith that He will do what is best.
By learning to release control to God, we begin a faith journey of trust that leads to a deeper abiding in Christ than we have ever known. And we gain this deeper abiding, ironically, by letting go.
