Mirror Moments
23 Explore me, O God, and know the real me. Dig deeply and discover who I am.
Put me to the test and watch how I handle the strain.
24 Examine me to see if there is an evil bone in me,
and guide me down Your path forever.
Psalm 139:23-24 (The Voice)
PHYSICALLY-what do you see when you look in the mirror? On the surface, we only see the reflection of ourselves.
SPIRITUALLY-what do you see when you look in your heart?
Mirror moments with God are a reflection of our hearts according to Him. As we look in the mirror, we see ourselves. In mirror moments with God, we’re asking God to reflect what He sees in us.
Psalm 139:4 (NLT) says, “You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD.” Which implies we can be completely transparent before God. We can’t shock Him, surprise Him, or snow Him.
We can be honest in our time with God. We cleanse our heart during our mirror moments with God by releasing to Him all of our unforgiveness and shame so that we do not carry unnecessary baggage into our relationships.
Mirror moments with God help reflect His heart in ours.
How do I find that mirror moment?
Be completely transparent and honest in your mirror moment with God about any shame identity, such as: “God, is it true that I am not good enough? Is it true that I am less than? Is it true that I am worthless? God, examine and explore the real me. Help me know the real me as You see me.”
Psalm 139:14 (NASB) says, “I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.”
Remind yourself of God’s truth - that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are enough! You are loved! “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.” (Psalm 139:17-18 NASB)
